Cole, McCullough & MOTAB

On Friday we had the wonderful opportunity to attend a concert at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.  It was called The Wondrous Gift of Christmas, performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with guests Natalie Cole and David McCullough.  It was a beautiful performance and we felt so lucky to be there!

After the concert we waded through the crowds of people to see the lights on Temple Square.

There were many samples today at Sam's Club.  The wonder of a warehouse store.

Snowed-in on the 3rd floor

Okay, I'm not really snowed inside my third floor apartment, but it feels like it.  And I'm pretty okay with that since the thick snow that's falling down in buckets is so beautiful with my view from inside my warm house with my Christmas music going!  I love it!
I attribute all this weather to the fact that Cousin Chelsea (that's your official name now) and I watched White Christmas.  Every year I've watched that movie it snows either during the viewing or shortly after.  We watched it on Thursday, so the snow was a little late to kick in this time, but I'm still certain it was because of White Christmas.  :)
The only bummer about all of this is that I need to do laundry.  Or at least, I should.  Three flights carrying a million pounds of laundry to the laundromat by the parking lot in the middle of a snow storm.  Mmmm, maybe I'll wait until tomorrow.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was great!  We cruised up to Pocatello on Tuesday where Scott spent most of his time locked away in his parents' basement doing homework.  We let him out for Thanksgiving dinner, although we did contemplate throwing the leftovers down to him.

Here Wally is carving our delicious turkey!

Sherry put together a beautiful table, including my favorite-raspberry pretzel salad!  We had fourteen people in attendance, including Wally & Sherry (Scott's parents), James, Tracy, Justin & Ashley (Scott's sister and her family), Aunt Carol (Scott's Aunt), Grandma Hayden (my grandmother), Ramona (my mom), Kirsten and Brandon (my sister and her fiance), Fern (Sherry's friend), Scott and myself.

After a delicious dinner and a wonderful time visiting with family, we gave Justin his birthday present: $20.00 beautifully wrapped in what was probably 4 yards of duct tape.  He was a little confused by our wrapping choices.  In his own words, "What were you literally thinking?!"
We all had a good laugh watching him unwrap it.  :)

We cut our Thanksgiving visit slightly short, but for a worthy cause-
the BYU-Utah football game!

This was the last game of the season and it was the most exciting game yet!  In the last minutes of the game Utah tied the score at 20-20, sending the game into overtime.  Utah scored a field goal putting it at 20-23.  It was a freezing cold night and I thought to myself that I would be extremely upset if we had stood out there for 4 hours only to lose in the last few seconds!  BYU did not disappoint.  Max Hall threw a touchdown and we won the game!!

Fans poured down onto the field until the stands were almost completely empty.  It was an exciting game and a great way to end the season!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!  Christmas here we come!!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like. . .

I did it. I just couldn't help myself. I Christmas-ized my blog. I found a Christmasy background and just spent the last hour picking songs for a Christmas playlist. For any of you who prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving to start such festivities, sorry. I just couldn't help myself. :)

A Flash of Perception

I've started a writing blog and I want to invite everyone to take a look! I (along with the support and encouragement of my wonderful husband) decided that it was time to pursue this thing that I've always wanted to do (not so much the blog, but writing in general) and this is my first step. I'm going to post articles on a bi-weekly basis for now while I'm just starting out and hope that I can muster the creativity to make it more frequent later on. Some of my faithful readers of this blog may recognize a few of the upcoming articles as recycled posts from this one, just expanded a little. Bear with me on those, I promise the rest will be fresh and new. Please feel free to become a follower and/or leave comments. I love comments. Maybe it's my co-dependency talking, but I'll say it again: I love comments. So I now invite you all on this adventure of mine.
And, oh yeah, here's the address:
